Hi! We’re Jake and Taylor Dawson. We started Good Scan Cans in November 2021 as we were leaving The Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center following an appointment with Jake’s oncology team. We wanted a quick and easy way to celebrate the good news we had just received, so we drove up the street to one of our favorite local watering holes, bellied up to the bar, and ordered our first two Good Scan Cans.

We are starting Good Scan Cans as a way to celebrate the little victories in the battle against cancer. Through this initiative, in 2022, we partnered with MULA Mexican Kitchen & Tequileria to raise money for Neuroendocrine cancer research from select beer can sales. In 2023, we initiated a donation drive to purchase food gift cards for families battling cancer. And in coming years, we look forward to helping as many people and families as possible who juggling life with cancer.

In addition to charitable proceeds, we also want Good Scan Cans to be a platform for those to share their victories. When Jake first shared his good news on social media back in November 2021, he was overwhelmed by the response he got from his friends who wanted to pop a can to help him celebrate. At Good Scan Cans, we will work to bottle up that feeling and pass it around for other fighters to feel by sharing success stories and throwing fundraising celebrations. Every little sliver of good news should be celebrated and celebrations don’t have to be elaborate to be meaningful.
